Teresa Armada Brás

Teresa is an Environmental Engineer and she hold a Ph.D. in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies. She is specialized on data-driven methodologies for time series analysis to assess the impacts of extreme weather events on the European food availability. She joined the Joint Research Centre in October 2002 to provide scientific support to the activities of the EU Observatory of Deforestation and Forest Degradation. In particular, she is assessing trade time series and trade flows of food commodities and products associated with high forest footprints, such as crop commodities, timber and beef. Previously, she worked as an Earth Observation (EO) researcher at the European Space Agency (ESA), and later on, as a Portuguese Delegate to the ESA EO Programme Committee. She developed Postdoctoral activities at the National Laboratory for Energy and Geology, in Portugal, and she also worked as an evaluator expert of the EU’s funding programmes for research and innovation.
