Keith Araño joined JRC in 2021 as a technology expert to work on the application of deep learning methods for remote sensing data. Prior to joining JRC, she was a PhD candidate at the Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics research group of Politecnico di Milano (Italy). Her PhD dissertation investigated the use of machine learning and deep learning algorithms on multimodal data (tabular, texts, images, audio) for affect prediction tasks. She was a visiting PhD student at the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence (USA) where she worked on real-time emotion prediction from physiological and environmental sensor data from smartwatches. In the past, she has worked as an SAP technical consultant at IBM (Philippines). She holds an international MSc in Industrial Management from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (Spain), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), and Heriot Watt University (Scotland) and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines (Philippines).
