Lucas Sinclair

Lucas is a scientist with expertise in the IT field as well as in Biology and Big Data. He has an engineering degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne where he studied Life Sciences from his Bachelor and Masters. Lucas also holds a doctoral degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Uppsala (Sweden). He has held several different roles along his career, such as working as a scientist in a Bioinformatics Core Facility, acting as a freelance consultant in data science as well as being a teacher for graduate and undergraduate students to name a few examples. He works at the JRC since 2019 and is the reference developer for the BIOMASS project that assesses and projects the growth of forestry across the 28 members of the European Union. He develops, tests and integrates different models to provide a coherent simulation framework. The results of these modeling scenarios will be used by decision makers for policy making. He also has extensive experience in data visualization and system administration. He has specialized in genetics and DNA sequence analysis in his doctorate, but has also delved in many other fields.
