Daniele de Rigo

Daniele de Rigo graduated in 2002 at Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), Italy, in Environmental Engineering and holds a PhD in Information Technology by POLIMI (2015) on planning and management of environmental systems. After having worked at CESI (Italy), he worked at POLIMI on natural resources (water) management and planning at the catchment scale. Since June 2010 he worked as a research scientist in the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC), on modelling forest tree species current distribution and suitability at the European scale, under climate change scenarios. He collaborates as JRC external consultant also in supporting the integrated modelling of forest resources disturbances (wildfires, forest pests) considering even their effects on soil resources (soil erosion, landslides) and the transdisciplinary multiplicity of factors affecting natural disaster analysis, mitigation and management. He is interested in how to facilitate synergies, integration and scalability of natural resources (forests, soil, water) modelling and management to better support policy-making for environmental sustainability and society resilience, and to help to move scientific research toward stronger robustness to uncertainty, reproducibility and cooperation.
